Proper masking (tape, paper, plastic) should be used when spraying Rust Inhibitor and Undercoating. Paying extra attention to the electric motors. Although VG-101 has the Dielectric strength to protect the electrical connectors and wiring from oxidation and corrosion resulting from exposure to salt and Magnesium Chloride, many EV engineers have expressed that these wires and connectors found on the underside of the vehicle should NOT be coated with any product. These are typically orange in color (color may vary depending on make and model) and should be masked off as well.
The battery box located under the vehicle is typically protected by a steel skid plate, the outside of this plate is safe to undercoat. However, the inside of this plate should be avoided.
*When spraying undercoating on any gas or electric powered vehicles always remember as a rule of thumb NOT to spray anything that moves or gets hot e.g., batteries, motors, exhaust, brakes, driveshaft etc.
