CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF AIR-LESS PUMPS

Air-less Under Coating pumps such as the Graco 15-1 Fireball will require periodic   maintenance depending on usage amount.

New pumps, before first use check and tighten packings per manufactures instructions. The instructions call for the use of a ¼” rod for this purpose but I find a 6mm allen wrench works better. Follow manufactures procedure in the pump’s manual.

These packings should be Teflon.  Some pumps may come with leather packings which are fine for solvent based products but not for water based.

When spec’ing a new pump, always spec Teflon packings.

The packings may loosen over time and should be checked approximately every 12 months. Every 6 months for heavy use pumps.

If your product drips from the pump’s weep hole (bottom of the pump) the packings will need to be tightened.    Also check PSI may be too high, causing excess pressure to be released out of the same hole.

When not in use the air supply should be turned off and pressure relieved from the pump.

Tips and tip seats can and will wear out with usage. Tips and seats should always be replaced at the same time approx. every 6-12 months depending on usage.

Always keep your gun, tip, hose and pump clean.

Always keep the safety tip guard in place on the end of the gun.

Always engage safety on gun when making adjustments to the tip and safety tip guard at the end of the gun.    This prevents accidental injection.
